Top Window Styles for Texas Homes in 2025: What’s Trending in Austin

Updating your windows is one of the best ways to boost your home’s comfort, curb appeal, and energy efficiency, especially in the intense Texas heat. In 2025, homeowners across Austin are gravitating toward window styles that blend modern design, high performance, and low maintenance. Whether you’re building new or replacing outdated builder-grade windows, here are the top styles trending across Central Texas.

1. Modern Black-Framed Windows

Clean lines and high contrast are dominating Texas home design. Black-framed windows create a sleek, modern look that pairs well with stone, stucco, and contemporary siding seen throughout Austin’s newer neighborhoods.

Why homeowners love them:

  • Strong architectural statement
  • Works for both modern and farmhouse-style homes
  • Pairs beautifully with large glass configurations
  • Brand examples:
    • Marvin Essential & Elevate (fiberglass)
    • Andersen 100 Series (Fibrex®)
    • Pella Impervia (fiberglass)

2. Large Picture Windows for Hill Country Views

With expansive Hill Country scenery, homeowners in Central Texas are moving toward large fixed picture windows that maximize natural light and amplify indoor/outdoor living.

Benefits:

  • Bigger glass = more views and natural daylight
  • Excellent energy performance with the right Low-E coatings
  • Perfect for open-concept living rooms, kitchens, and stairwells
  • Best for: New construction, modern homes, and major renovations.

3. Energy-Efficient Casement Windows

Casements, hinged on one side and opening outward continue to dominate replacement projects because of their superior sealing and ventilation.

Why they perform well in Texas:

  • Tight window seal helps block heat and drafts
  • Great for catching breezes in spring and fall
  • Works well in kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms

Top casement options:

  • Marvin Ultimate & Elevate Casements
  • Pella 250 Series Casements
  • Andersen 400 Series Casements

4. Sliding Windows for Easy Operation

Sliding (gliding) windows are popular for homeowners wanting modern function with minimal maintenance. They’re perfect for spaces where outward-opening windows aren’t practical.

Trending in 2025 because:

  • Smooth horizontal operation
  • Wide glass area for maximum light
  • Budget-friendly compared to casements
  • Great for: secondary bedrooms, hallways, and tight exterior walkways.

5. Architectural Shape Windows for Custom Designs

More homeowners in Austin are leaning into unique architectural details. Shape windows: arches, trapezoids, circles, and custom angles that allow homes to stand out.

Popular uses:

  • High foyer windows
  • Accent windows above entry doors
  • Gable-end peaks
  • Custom modern builds

This trend is especially strong in custom homes and high-end remodels.

6. Bay & Bow Windows for Curb Appeal

Bay and bow windows continue to be a strong choice for traditional Texas homes, adding charm, dimension, and additional seating or space.

Why they’re trending:

  • Increases natural light from multiple angles
  • Creates an interior focal point
  • Adds value to classic home designs
  • Perfect for: dining rooms, living rooms, and master bedrooms.

Energy Efficiency Matters More Than Ever in Texas

No matter the style, homeowners in Central Texas are prioritizing energy performance due to long, hot summers.

Top features Texas homeowners look for in 2025:

  • Low-E glass coatings for UV and heat control
  • Multi-pane glazing (double or triple pane)
  • Fiberglass or composite frames
  • Argon gas fills
  • ENERGY STAR® certification for the South-Central climate zone

Brands like Marvin, Andersen, and Pella offer high-performance models specifically engineered to reduce heat transfer and improve indoor comfort year-round.

When to Replace vs. Repair

Many Texas homes, especially those built 15–25 years ago, still have original builder-grade windows. You may want to consider replacement if you notice:

  • Rising energy bills
  • Hot spots near windows
  • Foggy or “cloudy” glass
  • Drafts or rattling frames
  • Difficult operation
  • Visible wood rot or frame damage

If multiple windows show these issues, replacing them with modern, energy-efficient options typically provides a stronger ROI than repairing outdated units.

Before & After: The Difference New Windows Make

Across Austin, homeowners see major transformations when upgrading to modern window styles:

  • Cleaner lines and better curb appeal
  • Better sound reduction
  • Lower energy bills
  • More natural light and larger views
  • Smooth, modern operation

Before-and-after photos (especially with black frames or large picture windows) consistently show dramatic improvements, both visually and functionally.

Frequently Asked Questions About Window Styles in Texas

What are the best window styles for Texas heat?
The best window styles for Texas heat are casement, picture, and fixed windows paired with energy-efficient glass. These styles seal tightly and allow for larger glass areas with advanced Low-E coatings that reduce heat transfer and UV exposure.
How do I know if I should replace my windows or just repair them?
If your windows are difficult to operate, drafty, fogged between panes, or causing high energy bills, replacement is usually the better long-term investment — especially for homes with original builder-grade windows common in Central Texas.
Which window material performs best in Texas?
Fiberglass and composite window frames perform best in Texas due to their durability, energy efficiency, and resistance to extreme temperatures. Brands like Marvin, Pella, and Andersen offer high-performance options specifically engineered for hot climates.
Do energy-efficient windows really lower energy bills in Texas?
Yes. Energy-efficient windows with Low-E glass, argon gas fills, and ENERGY STAR® ratings can significantly reduce cooling costs during long Texas summers by limiting heat gain and maintaining consistent indoor temperatures.
What window styles add the most value to a Texas home?
Modern picture windows, black-framed windows, and bay or bow windows tend to add the most value by improving curb appeal, natural light, and energy efficiency — all features Texas homebuyers prioritize.

The installation tech, Billy Dimas, is outstanding. He is the reason for the 5 stars. We fought with our general contractor to use Showroom. Our windows and door were on time, but there was an issue with the door threshold. It was completely wrong. After many meetings with all parties a number of ideas were floated to correct the issue. Billy was present for all but one meeting and he consistently tried to interject solutions. He was mostly ignored. Once everyone left, Billy was left to complete the task. Billy explained what he was doing at every step. As work progressed, Billy explained why certain proposed fixes would not work. Billy proposed his fix and the end product is fantastic. We are happy customers, thanks to Billy. Though we had to do modifications, Billy was able to give us a beautiful alternative. Billy is thorough, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. If you are contracting with Showroom, ask for Billy to be your installer.

I had a great experience working with Showroom Doors Austin. The entire process was smooth and well-managed, and everyone involved was professional and reliable. The finished door is beautiful and clearly very high quality. The craftsmanship and attention to detail really stand out, and I’m extremely happy with the final result. The installation team arrived on time, communicated clearly, and left the space clean when they were done. One team member in particular, Billy, went above and beyond and made a strong impression. From sales through project coordination, it was clear I was working with people who take pride in their work and deliver what they promise. I would confidently recommend Showroom Doors Austin to anyone looking for a high-quality door and a trustworthy team.

Billy Dimas did an outstanding job with the finishing work following our window and door installation project. He repaired sheet rock, textured, and painted the wall to match the adjoining walls, and painted the interior trim. He was meticulous, kept the area very clean, dust free, and was a pleasure to work with.

We had all of the original aluminum-frame windows on our 30-year-old home replaced with Pella windows. I wasn't initially going to give Showroom five stars because it took a little while longer than we expected to get everything buttoned up. But it seems that delays are becoming more and more common these days (for various reasons), so I'll give them a mulligan there. The bottom line is that our new Pella windows look great, the installation (now that it's completed) is clean and tidy, and we're happy campers! Man, how nice it is to look out upon our trees and wildlife as if we were sitting outside! Special kudos to product specialist Robbie Kubiak and Billy (from Honduras) who applied the finishing touches. We would not hesitate to recommend Showroom Windows & Doors to all our friends and family.
